Caged Farm Animals

My ministerial colleagues and I take the welfare of all animals very seriously. As outlined in the Action Plan for Animal Welfare, the Government is committed to strengthening welfare standards and is examining the use of cages for laying hens and the use of farrowing crates for pigs.

Animal Cruelty

I am assured that animals are protected under the Animal Welfare Act 2006. This Act requires those in charge of animals to protect them from harm and to ensure their key welfare needs are provided for.

Conversion Therapy Bill

I take this issue very seriously and I know that my colleagues in the Equalities Office remain committed to tackling conversion therapy in the UK. I am absolutely clear that this practice has no place in civilised society.
