End Frozen Pensions

The UK State Pension is payable worldwide and is uprated abroad where there is a legal requirement to do so. In most overseas countries, however, there is no agreement with the UK for securing the social security rights of people moving between the two countries.

Horizon IT scandal and the Post Office

As I am sure you will appreciate, a number of my constituents have raised this issue with me so in the interests of transparency and completeness, I thought it best to provide you with my overall views on this most serious and complex issue.

Farmers and Food Retailers

I would like to assure you that the Government is committed to working with businesses and organisations across the food supply chain, including farmers, manufacturing and distribution businesses and retailers, to ensure that we have a thriving food sector in the UK.

Local Government Procurement

You are right to raise the importance of effective procurement across local government. With more than a third of all UK Government spending on goods and services being spent by local government, it is crucial that the system is transparent and that taxpayers’ interests are protected.

Criminal Appeal (Amendment) Bill

I welcome that the number of young people in custody is at an historic low, with the number of under-18s in custody having fallen by 77 per cent in the past decade.

Plastic Pollution

The Resources and Waste Strategy for England sets out the Government’s plans to reduce, reuse, and recycle more plastic and Ministers have committed to work towards all plastic packaging on the market being recyclable or reusable by 2025.

Pay and Conditions of Nurses

I would like to start by saying that I am extremely grateful for the dedication of nursing staff in very difficult circumstances over the last three years. In particular, I appreciate that the challenge of working in the NHS during the pandemic, and through the current period when the demand for
